J.W. Robinson's downtown Los Angeles store was in the beginning of a major remodel and restoration when The May Department Stores acquired Associated Dry Goods in 1986. Although the first floor was completed(this view is of the Men's Sportswear department) and looked stunning, May's corporate management did not support non-mall locations and the remodel halted. This location closed in 1993. The floors were gutted and are offices. A true loss.
